Synopsis:

This film starts from a personal journey by gathering shared experiences of other queer Chinese people living in the UK, offering a look at the wider context of these important issues as the artist tries to question the definition of home as a member from LGBTQ+ community. Through voice over, intimate letter changes, archives & news, interviews, and the use of digital mappings, it depicts how queer identities intertwined with diaspora are bound up by rejection from the family and home country, the struggle of racism in the host country, and the confusion of cultural assimilation in the context of ethnocultural transformation. Finally, the work delves into the reality that for people who are marginalised, either culturally, geographically, or socially is always a state of exile.
